Where is My Leak

Determining when your pool has a leak can be tough. Environmental factors do play a role in the water level, and just because your pool’s water is lower than normal does not mean it has a leak. Wind, humidity, and sun exposure all impact your rate of evaporation.

Where is my Leak? Can You Find my Leak? Two fantastic questions

LEAK WARNING SIGNS

CHECK FOR THESE WARNING SIGNS

Keep a lookout for these leak warning signs:

  • Your pool, fountain, or spa loses more than 1/4 an inch of water a day
  • There are cracks in or around the pool decking
  • You need to add water more than once a week
  • Grass around the area is soggy
  • Your pool deck is sinking or lifting
  • The bucket test indicates there is a leak

PREPARING FOR A LEAK TEST

To ensure you receive an accurate leak detection test, it is recommended you have the pool vacuumed and cleaned beforehand. Dirt and debris in the pool can make it difficult to spot even large leaks. Likewise, the water should be as clear as possible. If your water is green it means mildew, algae, or fungi has infested it. Not only does this make it impossible to test for leaks, but it’s dangerous for your health. Furthermore, your pool should be full to the normal level – we can’t find a leak that is not leaking! After your test, you can feel comfortable knowing you have a clean pool/fountain/spa that is free of leaks.
